What happens after you place an order?
Waiting is easier when you know what's happening. Each stage, from order to first use, and what you can do along the way.
Ordering a piece of restraint furniture starts a wait of 8–14 weeks, and waiting is easier when you know what's happening. From the moment you pay to the first time the piece is used, each stage has something you can do.

Your order is confirmed
Your lead time is confirmed with your order. Our current lead time is 8–14 weeks; our lead times page has the latest picture.
If you chose a RAL colour, it's the reference we confirmed with you before you ordered.
Your card statement shows SanDom.
Your piece is made
Every piece is made to order, so nothing is made until you order. Your piece is made in S235 steel and finished in the colour you chose. Our guide to what made to order means explains what happens in that time and why it takes as long as it does.
What you can do while you wait
- Ask questions. We answer questions throughout production, about assembly, placement, care or anything else.
- Check the route. If you haven't already, send us the narrowest door, stair and turn on the way to the room, and we'll check them against your piece.
- Prepare the room. Clear the space, plan the furniture around the piece, and choose a rug, bedding or a mat.
- Plan assembly. Ask us how many people and which tools your piece needs, and arrange a time when nobody is in a hurry.
- Talk it through. If the piece is new to both of you, the weeks before it arrives are a good time to talk about how you'll use it.
If something changes at your end, such as a move or a change of mind, contact us as early as you can. Every piece is made to order, so the sooner you tell us, the more we can do. Our returns and cancellation page sets out your options.
Questions to ask during production
Any question is welcome, for example: where exactly the rings sit on the piece, how many people assembly needs, which mattress size suits a bed, how to protect a particular floor, and what to keep in the room for the first scene. Ask by email at info@sanctumdomina.com.
Your piece is packed and sent
When your piece is ready, it's packed flat, with printed assembly instructions, in discreet packaging. We deliver to the UK, US and EU. Our delivery page has the details for each region, and our guide to how discreet delivery is covers packaging and privacy.
It arrives
When the delivery arrives, check the packaging before anything else. If anything looks damaged, photograph it. Then move the parts to the room where the piece will live, and unpack them there, onto a soft surface that protects the floor and the finish.
Check every part against the printed instructions before you start assembling. If anything is missing, marked or damaged, stop and contact us with your order number and a photograph. If you're in the UK, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply to every piece.
You assemble it
Assemble the piece with enough people, in the room it will live in, following the printed instructions one step at a time. Re-tighten every fixing before first use. Our guide to assembling a flat-pack steel bed frame walks through the day; the same approach applies to a cross or a cage.
Before the first use
Before the piece is used for anything beyond sleep or display, do two things. First, check it: the frame, its fixings, the rings and the finish around them. Our guide to checking your furniture before each scene sets out the routine you'll use from now on.
Second, talk. Consent is a yes that's freely given, informed, specific, ongoing and withdrawable at any moment, agreed sober for a scene that stays sober. Agree your limits, a safeword and a non-verbal signal; either one ends a scene immediately and is never discussed or overridden in the moment. Our guide to what to agree before using restraint furniture covers the full conversation.
Living with your piece
Once your piece is in use, a few habits keep it at its best. Take restraints and connectors off when a scene ends, and store them in closed storage close to the piece. Wipe the frame with warm water and mild soap now and then, and dry it with a soft cloth. Keep the floor around the piece clear. And whenever the piece is moved, re-tighten every fixing before it's used again. Check it before every use, and if anything moves, loosens or chips through to the steel, stop using it and contact us before it's used again. Our care guide covers the finish.
For bespoke orders
A bespoke commission has a design stage before any of this: your brief, measurements, scaled drawings and your written approval of the drawings and quote. Timing is confirmed in your written quote. Our guide to how a bespoke commission works covers it step by step.
