BDSM Bed Restraint Positions: A Guide to Secure Bondage

Some of our Favs :)

The Classic Spread Eagle (The X-Frame)

This is the foundation of bed bondage. It’s simple, it’s iconic, and it offers total access.

  • The Setup: Use the hooks at the top and bottom of the four corner posts.

  • The Technique: Spread the submissive’s limbs toward the corners. (I find that keeping the tension firm but not painful is the sweet spot for longer scenes).

  • Why it Works: This position keeps them completely vulnerable. With their limbs pulled toward the posts, they can’t roll away or shield themselves. It is the perfect setup for a long sensory session or a thorough interrogation.

The Frog Position (Deep Access)

If you want to focus on the lower body, the frog position (or M-position) is your best friend.

  • The Setup: Instead of the bottom posts, use the hooks located along the side rails, closer to the middle of the bed.

  • The Technique: Secure their wrists to the top posts as usual. Then, bring their knees up and outward, securing their ankles to the side rail hooks.

  • Why it Works: This opens the hips and keeps the pelvic area front and center. It is much more stable than just "asking" them to stay open (because we know they love to close up when things get intense).

Elevated Lower Body (The Incline)

Sometimes you want a little gravity on your side.

  • The Setup: Secure the submissive's wrists to the side rails near their waist. Then, use the hooks at the top of the headboard posts for their ankles.

  • The Technique: You are essentially flipping the script. Their legs go up, their upper body stays flat or slightly propped up with pillows.

  • Why it Works: This is fantastic for "inspection" scenes. It changes the blood flow and makes every touch feel a little more urgent for the submissive. (Just keep an eye on their circulation; legs held high for too long can get pins and needles).

Pro-Level Techniques for Better Bondage

Having a sturdy BDSM bed frame is the first step; how you attach the submissive is the second. Here are a few ways to make the most of those hooks:

  • Carabiners are Essential: Do not tie rope directly to the metal hooks. It’s a pain to untie in a hurry. Use high-quality carabiners to clip your cuffs or rope loops to the bed’s hardware.

  • Adjusting Tension: The hooks on the side rails are great for "fine-tuning." If the submissive is too loose, move the attachment point one hook further down the rail.

  • Multi-Point Restraint: Don't feel limited to four points. You can use the side rails to add a waist strap or a chest harness attachment to keep them from arching their back too much during impact play.

Safety Cautions for Bed Play

Even with the best equipment, safety is the mark of a true expert. When you are using fixed points on a bed, the submissive cannot move to relieve pressure.

  1. The Two-Finger Rule: Always ensure you can fit two fingers between the restraint and the submissive's skin.

  2. Check for Numbness: Ask your submissive if they feel any tingling or "fuzziness" in their fingers or toes. If they do, loosen the tension immediately.

  3. Positional Asphyxia: Be careful with positions that compress the chest or neck, especially if you are using pillows to prop them up.

  4. Always Have Shears: Even if you use quick-release clips, keep a pair of safety shears nearby. If a clip jams or a rope knots during an emergency, you need to be able to cut them free in seconds.
