Four-poster BDSM beds and bondage bed frames in S235 steel, made to order and powder coated in the colour you choose, with welded rings on every frame. Choose a bare silhouette, or one of eight headboards cut with a pattern of its own, then read the guide below.

Detail · Eden headboard, laser-cut pattern

Pure silhouettes, or a headboard cut with a motif.

Axis keeps to the bare four-poster line. The other eight frames carry a pattern cut into the 3 mm headboard panel, each one drawn for the frame it sits in.

Same steel, same powder coat, same price. The choice comes down to the room, and to how much of the frame you want people to notice.

Start with the ceiling

Ceiling height rules out more BDSM beds than taste does. A four-poster frame stands taller than any ordinary bed, and the canopy rails need clear space above them for the frame to look right and to be used comfortably. Beams, sloping loft ceilings and pendant lights all count. Measure the lowest point above where the bed will stand before you look at a single style.

Full dimensions on request. Contact us before you order. Send us your ceiling height and we'll check it against the frame you like. In a lower room, a bespoke frame can be drawn to suit.

What makes a bed a bondage bed

Three quite different things are sold under the same name. Under-mattress restraint kits are straps that run beneath an ordinary mattress, cheap and discreet but limited in where they can hold. Platform beds with fixing points are low and solid, with rings set into the base. Four-poster bondage beds put structure on every side of the mattress and above it, so restraint can come from any direction.

We only make the third kind, because it's the only one that is also a piece of furniture in its own right. A four-poster has presence in a room. It frames the bed and sets its own boundary.

Why every frame is a four-poster

Four corner posts joined by rails overhead give a bed structure on every side and above the mattress, which is what makes a four-poster so versatile for restraint and so easy to read as an ordinary bed.

Welded rings sit on the posts and rails, finished in the same powder coat as the frame, so they read as part of the design until they're needed.

A good BDSM bed is still the bed you sleep in.

The nine headboards

Axis is the barest version: posts, rails and nothing in between. It suits minimal rooms and lets bedding and light do the work. The other eight frames carry a pattern cut into the 3 mm headboard panel.

  • Eden. An organic lattice, the softest pattern we cut, for warm bedrooms and natural linen.
  • Paragon. Repeating diamonds in precise rows. Formal and symmetrical.
  • Arcadia. Arched openings like a colonnade, at home with plaster and pale finishes.
  • Cellar. Heavy vertical bars. The most industrial frame, for basements and lofts.
  • Emblem. One central motif in a plain field.
  • Solstice. Radiating lines from a low centre point, the most graphic of the set.
  • Pavilion. Tall, narrow panels that draw the eye up, for high ceilings.
  • Regent. A classical border around a plain panel, for period homes.

Floor space and the route in

Leave enough open floor on every side of the bed you plan to use, so people can move round it without squeezing past other furniture. Then check the route in: front door, hallway, stairs, landing and bedroom door.

Every frame ships flat-packed. If there's a tight turn on the way to the bedroom, send us a photograph and your measurements and we'll check before you order.

Mattress and bedding

Each frame is built around a standard mattress size, chosen when you order. Ask us for the exact dimensions before you buy a new mattress for it.

Standard sizes mean fitted sheets, protectors and toppers are easy to find. Dark linen suits dark frames; pale washed linen softens them. A waterproof protector under the sheet keeps the mattress fresh whatever the bed is used for.

Choosing a finish

Every bed is powder coated in Obsidian (black), Oxblood (red), Gilt (gold), Chalk (white) or Forge Clear (clear coated steel), or any RAL colour on request. Dark finishes read as architectural and make the frame the focus of the room. Paler ones recede into a light scheme and suit a bedroom that needs to stay discreet. Every colour is in the finish library.

Placing the bed in the room

Where the bed stands changes how it's used. Against a wall, a headboard frame becomes the backdrop of the room and the open sides face the door. In the middle of a large room, Axis gives access from all four sides. Under a window, keep the curtains clear of the canopy rails so they can still close.

Light matters as much as position. A single lamp beside a laser-cut headboard throws its pattern across the wall, while overhead light flattens it. Plan a low, warm source near the head of the bed, and a brighter one you can switch on for making the bed. Our guide to turning a spare room into a playroom covers the rest of the room.

Restraints and accessories

The frame is sold without restraints, so you can choose cuffs, straps and rope that suit you rather than a bundled set. Look for wide, lined cuffs with quick-release fastenings, and keep safety shears within reach whenever anyone is restrained. Store everything in a closed drawer or box between uses, and the bed goes back to being a bed.

Delivery and lead times

A bed for every night

Powder-coated steel is easy to wipe down, and with plain bedding the frame reads as a striking four-poster and nothing more. Restraints and accessories can be stored away between uses, leaving a frame that belongs in a bedroom on its own terms. Our care guide covers the routine.

When to go bespoke

Choose bespoke if your ceiling is low, your mattress is an unusual size, or you want a headboard pattern of your own. Commissions use the same steel and finish as the collection, and you see drawings and a fixed quote before anything is made.

Never use any piece to hold a person's weight off the ground. Follow the assembly and fixing instructions, check the piece before each use, never leave a restrained person alone and keep safety shears within reach. Use is at your own risk; nothing on this site is medical or safety advice.
